What is incense?
Incense is an aromatic material that is burned to release its scent. The word “incense” comes from the Latin “to burn” and has been used for thousands of years in religious rituals, aromatherapy, meditation, ceremonies and even more practical uses like as an insect repellent. In ancient Egypt, Babylon, and Greece, incense was used in religious practice to repel demons or evil spirits.
How to burn incense
Incense comes in various forms, including sticks and cones.
Light the tip to burn an insect stick, then gently extinguish the flame. The incense will then glow and produce scented smoke, typically lasting between 50 and 90 minutes.
We always recommend using an incense stick holder and never leave incense burning unattended.
How to burn cone incense
You burn an incense cone in the same way. Light the tip, wait for it to glow, then gently blow out the flame. Place the cone into a fireproof burner to keep it safe.
